The Mount Professional School of Cookery
Accredited City and Guilds of London International Vocational Qualification
The Mount
Professional Cookery School is registered with City And Guilds and
offers an International Vocational Qualification in Professional Cookery
and Food and Beverage Service: Advanced Management. For an enquiry
please e-mail us at
info@themount.co.za.
We offer our courses on a full time basis. Our courses are 90% practical
work where students get to experience their chosen vocation hands on and
we work on a ‘learn as you work’ basis rather than ‘learn then work’. We
find this way of training to be the most effective and most interesting
for our students.
Training
will be under the supervision of Peter Ahern who has been a Chef for
over 20 years with international 5 and 6 star experience. He completed
his Professional
Chefs Diploma with Southern Sun In Service Training
accredited with the South African Chefs Association and City and Guilds
of London. Peter also completed his 3 year Diploma in Hotel
Management at Wits. He headed the training at the Mount Nelson
Hotel and has produced many chefs who are in top positions in high
ranking hotels and who have excelled internationally.
Peter has experienced first hand the pitfalls of newly qualified chefs
who come into hotels or restaurants and find that they are unable to
cope as they do not have the necessary experience of the pressures and
high stress levels of a kitchen. It is for this reason that our courses
are structured to provide that experience necessary for our qualified
students can go out into the world successfully and confidently.
